Parent Expectations

Parent Expectations

Youth sports should be fun!  Parent support and encouragement is key to player success in the United CC program.

It is important that parents observe the guidelines established by United CC, leagues, tournaments, and the Missouri Youth Soccer Association.

Parents must read and sign the Parent Code of Ethics.

Time Commitments for United CC Parents

There are many opportunities for United CC parents to be involved in the club, including volunteering as a team manager, coach, or serving on the board. At a minimum, United CC parents are expected to participate in meetings and events that support the club's ability to perform it's mission.

  • Every family is required to attend one general meeting sometime throughout the year and bring back the information from that meeting to other team parents.

  • Each family will be required to work at our annual tournaments.

  • Each family will be required to participate in the club fundraiser.

As a UCC parent, I will …

  • Be encouraging, supportive and positive about my child's play on the field

  • Support the coach, manager and the team

  • Show respect for officials, opponents and other spectators

  • Volunteer my services and talents to UCC when possible

  • Familiarize myself with the rules of the game, the team and the club

  • Notify the coach or team manager if my child will be tardy for or unable to make a practice, game or meeting

  • Encourage my child to be responsible and prepared for all games and training sessions (mental attitude, equipment, water)

I will not…

  • Undermine the coach by coaching my child on the side

  • Criticize those who are doing their best

  • Engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, manager, player or parent

  • Forget that I represent the United Capital City Soccer Club

UCC Game Policy

  • Parents, family and friends are encouraged to attend games and support our players

  • Players must arrive at the game field 45 minutes prior to scheduled start unless specified differently by the head coach

  • Players must wear proper uniform, including jersey, shorts and socks, shin guards and cleats, and bring plenty of water

  • Players must warm up with their teammates and coaches

  • If a player will be absent, late for the game or has to leave the game early, the coach must be notified in advance

  • Players can only be instructed by the coach during the game. The parents' role is strictly encouragement - no coaching

  • Parents are not allowed to step on the field to talk to the coach or players during a game. Any involvement of the parent with their player during the game should be designated by the coach (e.g. injuries, water breaks, etc.)

  • During games, parents should refrain from making comments to the game officials. Referees and linesmen should be treated in a professional and courteous manner

  • Parents are not allowed to approach the coach after the game for discussions about playing time, position, etc. Meetings should be scheduled for another time.

UCC Practice Policy

  • Players are encouraged to attend every practice to learn and grow with the team

  • Players must arrive ten minutes prior to practice start

  • Players must wear the UCC practice uniform (training shirts provided), unless otherwise specified by the head coach

  • Players must wear shin-guards and appropriate footwear for practice surface, and bring plenty of water

  • If a player will miss practice, arrive late or leave early, the coach must be notified in advance

  • Parents are not allowed to step on the field to talk to the coach or players during a practice

  • If you would like to speak with the coach, a meeting must be scheduled either before or after practice, or during the coach's free time
