WPSL Division II Relaunch

The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) initially introduced its second tier in 2021 under the name WPSL U21 , featuring 39 teams across 13 states. These teams were comprised of current collegiate athletes and prep players. 

Four seasons later, the WPSL is advancing its mission to create a unified pathway for player development by relaunching its second tier. This reimagined structure further emphasizes the league’s commitment to providing premier developmental opportunities. 

In summer 2025, the tier will officially relaunch under the new name WPSL Division II .This division serves as the second level in the WPSL pathway pyramid, designed to introduce clubs to the league’s competition and standards, while establishing a true developmental route within the league’s historic system. Several founding clubs from the former U21 seasons have since advanced to compete in the WPSL’s first division.
